Hello all. Here we are just past the halfway point of July –
where HAS the year gone? Someone said
to me just last week that there are only 23 weeks to Christmas!!!!!! I was
about to type an expletive but thought that this is not the place for bad language.
Anyway, the half month results are in…..
Leading the way is OLD PETER’S RUSSIAN TALES followed
closely by HAWAIIAN FOLK TALES.
Interest in these two regions of the world never seems to wane.
Russia and Hawaii are always in our top ten.
Number 3 on the list is MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF JAPAN which was
an unexpected appearance in the top 5. Number 4 is PUNCH CARTOONS OF THE GREAT
WAR being a collection of caricatures and cartoons about the events of WWI, or
the Great War, published by Punch magazine. Unlike Raemakers’ newspaper
cartoons of the Great War, which focussed a lot on the irony and absurdity of
the war, most of these have an element fun abd humour to them, even though they
are dealing with a serious subject.
Surprisingly in 5th place is, THE REAL HORSE
WHISPERERS – the real story of J. S. Rarey and W. J. Powell who over 150 years before
Robert Redford’s 1985 film, were horse whispering for real. A real must for
wannabee horse trainers and especially those wanting to compete in Equestrian events.
