PROJECT PERU

Can you believe that there are only 8 bookshops in the whole of Peru? Even worse there are no public libraries! The few libraries that do exist are privately owned with little or no access to the public.
Of the 29 million people in Peru, 11 million live in poverty. Project Peru, a UK based charity, supports a refuge at Zapallal near Lima. Their latest objective is to create a library for the disadvantaged people they support teaching them to read, write and speak English.
Bill Clinton said of the Hay-on-Wye book and literature festival that it is "The Woodstock of the Mind".
The biggest draw-back to education in many countries is that it is not free. In their prospectus, Unicef state "Every child has the right to an education which develops their personality, talents and abilities to the full. Primary education must be free for all children." Despite this over 100million children world-wide are denied a basic, primary school education. Countries which do not invest in an education for their children are not investing in the future of that country, never mind the future of their people.
Abela Publishing has partnered with Project Peru to help create the library for the disadvantaged people of Zapallal. Buy an Abela book online now at www.AbelaPublishing.com, append "-PP" to your name and we'll make sure the book is delivered to the new library in Zapallal with your compliments.
Lets bring Woodstock to Zapallal.......!
